Cavall Burgess: Radio Host of the Radio Today show, “Welcome to MY World”, Dancer, MC & Entertainer, Good Will Ambassador, invited a group of South African Celebrities and Change-makers to join him in a glamorous photoshoot to thank them for their contribution to South Africa. Burgess is the Brand Ambassador for Faces of Hope, an organization that raises funds for individuals who need financial assistance for cancer treatment. “I’ve worked with some remarkable people who I believe deserve to not only be appreciated but celebrated too,’ says Burgess. Burgess also threw himself behind the national fundraiser for persons with disabilities, Casual Day this year, interviewing several Casual Day ambassadors and volunteering to assist the ambassadors in their duties. Three Ambassadors were amongst the change makers in the photoshoot. ‘I have called it the “Our World photoshoot” because this amazing group has been my inspiration for my ongoing radio talk show series. I wanted to portray them in the most glamorous and inspiring way because I am so grateful for the work they do as ambassadors for good. They are all people who use their celebrity status and their influence to bring about much-needed change in the World… My World, and Our World,’ says Burgess.
The shoot brought 27 South African Celebrities together in a photographic extravaganza that took place on 24th of October 2014, at the Joburg Theatre in Braamfontein. Top South African designers, Pronovias Michelangelo Towers (Sandton) and City Chic Sandton City provided garments to the amount of R150 000-00, while International Photographer, Kevin Mark Pass was behind the camera. Hair and make-up by Tiffany Wilson and Alek Daray.
The photoshoot featured Change Makers and Representatives of several goodwill initiatives. Says Burgess: “It was my privilege to witness each of these people going beyond the call of duty and giving of themselves to the community. I’ve been fortunate to either work with these amazing individuals, give my time to their causes or interview them on my radio show.” Burgess alongside Bernadette Rigney: Director of fAbility (Pty) Ltd, a company that combines fabulousness with doing good to create a better World, chose top, internationally recognized designers, make-up artists, hairstylists and photographers for the shoot.
Burgess was a Senior Producer for Radio Today for five years and currently presents “Welcome to MY World” – every Monday from 1pm to 2pm on Radio Today 1485 AM, Channel 869 DSTV Audio. With his vast experience as a Dancer, MC, Motivational Speaker and Radio Presenter he captures the audiences attention in a heartbeat. “Radio Today has allowed me to express myself and given me the platform to create awareness around a number of initiatives that I believe need support. ‘Witnessing how cancer has affected the lives of children through my work has been a life changing experience for me. I value the work that Faces of Hope does in the lives of those who need the assistance. My family has been affected by cancer through the years and my mother, Brenda Burgess inspired me to shave my hair in honour of those who lost the fight against cancer.”
