Transport Month Campaign: Eco Mobility 20 October 2015

Tuesday, the 20th of October 2015 Radio 2000 and members of the Office of the Premier, City of Johannesburg, Gauteng Department of Transport, Gautrain, Rea Vaya, Fability as well as a number of celebrities with disabilities will embark on a ride in support of Transport Month, to showcase the efficiency of our public transport system and how disabled friendly it is.

All participants will gather at SABC Radiopark from 07:15am to Pretoria Hatfield and back via Sandton to SABC using Rea Vaya and Gautrain.

The journey will be followed point to point by Radio 2000 and SABC News from start to finish.

“An efficient, universally accessible public transportation system is vital to enable all, to be able to get from their homes to places of work. It is a challenge for people living with disabilities to get from their home to a prospective place of work without such a system,” said Radio 2000 Senior Content Producer Mr Doug Anderson.

“Public Transport is not a luxury, but a necessity for persons with disabilities. That is why it is important to improve on,” said Fability CEO Bernadette Rigney.

“Modernise public transport and infrastructure for people with disabilities in Gauteng City Region,” said Director in the Premier’s Office Mr Zain Bulbulia.
